Request for Proposals

TAMRITZ is seeking to train and coach (5) Jewish Day Middle Schools who are passionate about harnessing digital media for impact on student learning and engagement.  These Jewish Day Schools must be willing to take risks to pilot an innovative approach to learning with new media, “digital badge learning.”

Applications are open to Middle Schools, Grades 6-8, who are willing to designate (3-5) faculty as a “digital badge learning advisory team.” We are looking for Middle School applicants who are interested in exploring digital badge learning as one approach to blended, project-based and student-directed learning.

Explore the resources on this web site to learn more about digital badge learning and the Tamritz Badge Learning Network.

School Readiness Indicators:

Is my school ready to implement digital badge learning?

Consider this checklist of questions to help you assess your school’s badge learning readiness.  Can you answer “yes” to all of these questions?

  • Technology infrastructure is reliable and digital learning equipment is readily available?
  • A “go to” person on staff is available to assist with technical challenges?
  • Academic team (faculty) collaboration time is built into the school schedule on a regular basis?
  • A staff member can serve as badge learning liaison for your school (administrator, teacher or technology integrator)?
  • Administrative team is flexible and interested in shifting the learning landscape within the school towards new media literacies and towards a project-based, student-directed model?

This brief application requests basic school and badge advisory team information; short narratives and explanations about your school’s 21st Century learning landscape and technology support; your interest in badge learning for your school; and acceptance of commitments for participation.  You do not need to write a formal essay for each question, but please be specific in your answers.  All responses will be kept confidential.

Application Due Date:

Friday, April 12, 2013, 12:00 NOON ET / OR 9:00am Pacific

Note:  We HIGHLY recommend that you prepare your responses to longer questions in advance, cutting and pasting them into the application.  All pages of the application must be filled out to be considered complete. The survey tool does not allow you to stop, save your work and return during a future session. Please be prepared to answer all questions in one sitting.
